General

Challenges of the Molecule Archive

Every day, a plethora of unknown chemical entities is prepared with considerable time and expense within academic research laboratories. Many of these compounds are examined only regarding their original scientific purpose and disposed afterwards or remain unused. The mission of the Molecule Archive is to collect these substances to keep them available for further research and maximize their benefit to science and society.

Almost 40 national and international working groups now entrust us with substances for storage. Together, we have accumulated more than 13.000  compounds that are being investigated by our 47 testing partner institutions.

Provide Compounds

We offer a comprehensive service for the digital registration and long-term physical storage of compounds carefully elaborated in your laboratory. Additionally, a vast network of partner institutions is available to examine the scientific potential of your molecules.

or

Get Samples

We provide samples of numerous commercially unavailable substances, ready to be used for screening campaigns or as reference material for specific scientific questions.

Provide Compounds to the Molecule Archive

and enable the exploitation of their broad scientific potential

The preservation and re-use of research material promotes transparency and sustainability in science and brings numerous advantages for present and upcoming generations of investigators. Our compound testing partners cover a broad spectrum of contemporary research interests and can assist you in the further elucidation of the scientific potential of your research products.

Storage

We take care of the long-term storage of chemical compounds. We assist in the packaging, shipping and management of the substances.

Profiling

We provide chemical analysis of the compounds. More and more relevant physicochemical and biological features are added to the profiling of the compounds.

Transparency

We support making the compounds and results gained with them accessible to the scientific community. This increases the transparency of research and leads to FAIR working conditions in science.

Sustainability

We Molecule Archive supports the acceleration of scientific work. The know-how and expenses that you invested in your research will accelerate the gain of knowledge in present and future projects.

Legal Support

The respective intellectual properties of each of our partners is legally protected by the conclusion of a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA). A template is provided to to all partners. Feel free to contact us for more information.

Publications

Most of our partners aim for common publications. Accordning to good scientific practice, authorship is shared depending on the scientific contributions of the scientists.

Or get compounds from the Molecule Archive

and benefit from a highly diverse collection of academic research compounds

The Molecule Archive currently consists of about 13,000 compounds collected from national and international scientists. The amount of compounds is steadily growing. The collection is highly diverse and holds numerous commercially unavailable substances that may lead to unexpected hits in your testing system, that could serve as reference substances in your individual scientific challenge or could be used to build better materials. Depending on your experimental setting, we will be happy to provide you with specific compounds or selections based on virtual screenings, similarity searches or diversity-oriented approaches. The chemical optimization of compounds of interest can be performed either by the providing chemist or, in case of lacking capacity, in the laboratories of the Molecule Archive.

Unique
Compounds

Our archive offers unique and highly sophisticated compounds that cannot be obtained from commercial vendors or require time- and cost-intensive custom synthesis.

Quality
Standards

All incoming compounds are carefully checked for identity and purity. Steady check ups track the stability of our stored substances to maintain high quality of the samples examined in your laboratory.

Follow-Up
Chemistry

Chemical modification and derivatisation of relevant structures can be performed either by the providing partner or within our own laboratories.

Scientific
Support

We are happy to accompany emerging research projects with our expertise in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry and materials sciences

Legal

Publications

Get your results published together with your providing partner! According to good scientific practice, authorship is shared depending on the scientific contributions of the scientists.

How to provide compounds to the Molecule Archive

Providing compounds is simple. Just follow the steps below:

1. Contact Us

We provide suitable submission forms and a set of labelled and tared vessels.

2. Fill Vessels

A minimum of 10 mg of each compound is recommended. With less material available, less testing can be performed.

3. Enter Data

Adding of information to the submission form. We use this data for compound registration.

4. Submit

Use the envelopes and boxes provided for shipping. We will inform you as soon as your substances have arrived.
