Analysis
The Molecule Archive applies multiple analytical techniques to guarantee a high quality of all stored compounds. The results of these measurements can be requested from us shortly after receipt of the substances and may serve as proof of quality in case of publication. As a core facility of the German Research Foundation, we also provide access to in-depth analyses that can be obtained by our instrumental equipment.
After acceptance to the Molecule Archive, substances will be further profiled regarding biological and physicochemical properties. Automated calculations are performed to estimate a potential application in several fields of materials sciences. This activity is currently established.
Analysis in detail
Each compound that is provided to the Molecule Archive passes a standardized workflow for the verification of the submitted substance and a first evaluation of its application potential.
During the registration of the compounds for the Molecule Archive, the identity and purity of the compounds are verified using different techniques. If required, we use different combinations of e.g. thin-layer chromatography, GC-MS, LC-MS and NMR-spectroscopy. In case of minor contaminations, we offer purification of the respective substance utilizing preparative RP-HPLC. After reception to the Molecule Archive, we test for SARS-CoV-2 activity applying an in-house pseudotyping assay. This also features a preliminary evaluation of cytotoxicity. To prevent unspecific interactions or assay interference, we check routinely for autofluorescence and solubility issues in common solvents.

How to provide compounds to the Molecule Archive
Providing compounds and get them analyzed is simple. Just follow the steps below:
1. Contact Us
We provide suitable submission forms and a set of labelled and tared vessels.
2. Fill vessels
A minimum of 10 mg of each compound is recommended. With less material available, less testing can be performed.
3. Enter Data
Adding of information to the submission form. We use this data for compound registration.
4. Submit
Use the envelopes and boxes provided for shipping. We will inform you as soon as your substances have arrived.
